The Blue Iguana is something like the mascot of the island. Cayman Islands is pretty expensive and highly developed. Several multi-million dollar beachfront condos here.

This is the view from the Cobalt Coast resort on Grand Cayman where I stayed. They cater mainly to divers. I took a 3-day PADI Open Water certification class here. There is a dive shop on site.

Cat Island - beach

Cat Island is one of the lesser populated outer islands of the Bahamas. Population is around 1500. This was more to my liking. This is the view just a few steps out of my beach cottage.

Nassau - conch salad!

Conch salad seems to be the local specialty, and it is *delicious*!
Diced cukes, bell peppers, onions, habanero peppers, lime juice, squeezed orange juice, and fresh conch *straight from the shell*!

Nassau - Fort Charlotte

I visited Fort Charlotte in Arawak Cay. This fort is notable for two reasons:- all the rooms are built underground, hacked out of solid rock, but affording excellent protection.- the fort layout is matched to the terrain -- irregular. it was widely criticized for not being regular and geometric, as was customary for all forts of the day.

Nassau - Atlantis from across the bay

I had a 3 hour layover in Nassau, and I didn't want to waste it so I went out exploring. This is a view of the Atlantis mega-hotel-resort $500/night type of place. See the cruise ships stacked up next to it? Ugh, not the type of place I had in mind...
