I didn't have to go far to see colorful tropical fish; they are swimming right underneath my bungalow.
When I first dipped my toes in the water some fish came immediately to nibble on them! It seemed like the fish are used to people dropping food into the water, so they try to eat anything you put in the water.
To test this theory I threw some bread crumbs into the water:
Fish swarm as soon as you drop food into the water.
